COCO'S BURLESQUE WORKSHOPS
SLOW & SENSUAL
This 90 minute Slow & Sensual workshop is an invitation to slow down and luxuriate in the how rather than the what. We will explore sensual movement as an art form, where every choice is deliberate and every pause is charged. We will focus on how to cultivate confidence through control and intentional movement, cultivating presence, and discovering how subtlety can be just as powerful as spectacle. You’ll be guided to listen to your body, trust your instincts, and let your sensuality unfold naturally—moment by moment.
What we’ll focus on
Holding space
Slowing down
Sensual touch
Glove Peels ***(PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN GLOVES)***
Learning how anticipation works: delaying gratification, playing with eye contact, and allowing stillness to speak. We’ll explore how to suggest rather than show, and how to keep the audience leaning forward.
• Intentional movement & pacing
Slow walks, weighted transfers, breath-led gestures, and controlled transitions. We’ll work with pauses, accents, and softness—so nothing feels accidental or rushed.
How the journey of your hands across the body can be as evocative as striptease. Think tracing, framing, hovering, and withholding.
Dropping out of performance anxiety and into sensation. This class is about how it feels in your body, not how it looks to anyone else.
We’ll finish by weaving everything together into a slow, sensual sequence with glove peels, giving you tools you can return to again and again—on stage, in rehearsal, or simply for yourself.
WHAT TO WEAR : Bring something you are comfortable to dance in that also allows you to feel sensual and empowered. I always encourage a bit of lipstick too if ya fancy! Bring heels and water, to stay hydrated and fabulous! ***(PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN GLOVES)***
FOSSE SILHOUETTES
Fosse Silhouettes is a 90-minute choreography-based workshop inspired by the unmistakable style of Bob Fosse—drawing from the jazz-driven movement, sharp lines, and seductive minimalism of his heyday in the 1960s through to the 1970s. This class focuses on creating strong, iconic silhouettes through precision, musicality, and controlled intensity, hallmarks of the Fosse aesthetic.
You’ll learn choreography rooted in classic jazz technique, exploring isolations, turned-in lines, stylized walks, and expressive subtlety that defined Fosse’s work on stage and screen. Movement will emphasize intention and attitude as much as steps, allowing dancers to embody the confidence and character that made this era so iconic.
We’ll be dancing to Fosse music, with inspiration drawn from films such as Chicago (1972) and Sweet Charity (1966).
This workshop is open to all levels, with options and variations offered so dancers of any experience can participate fully and comfortably. It is held in a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where all bodies, identities, and expressions are welcome. Props will be provided to enhance movement, shape, and storytelling throughout the class.
WHAT TO WEAR : Bring something you are comfortable to dance in that also allows you to feel sensual and empowered. I always encourage a bit of lipstick too if ya fancy! Bring heels and/or jazz shoes if you have them, and water to stay hydrated and fabulous!
